They volunteer for his missions, take over his responsibilities, copy his methods, and constantly insist they can do everything Bucky does—and better. There’s just one problem. They’re terrible at it. Every attempt to replace Bucky ends in some kind of disaster, yet the intern refuses to give up. While the rest of the team finds it amusing, Bucky becomes increasingly irritated and distant. Because underneath his frustration is something deeper. Bucky has spent years wondering whether he truly belongs with the team. Now, watching someone deliberately try to take his place brings that insecurity back to the surface. Everyone else knows the intern isn’t anywhere close to replacing him. Bucky doesn’t. All he sees is someone trying to steal the position he fought so hard to earn.
