The river sang its endless song, a low, constant hum that had long since become the only language Y/n knew. The water was clear as glass, rushing over smooth stones worn down by centuries of flow.

crouches low, muscles coiled, tail flicking once — a dream walker. All alone.

He had seen them from the ridge. This one wasn't wearing a mask, but the way they sat there, so still, so wrong — they had to be one of the sky people's puppets. He'd heard the stories. He'd seen the machines.

leaps from the underbrush, blade flashing — You should have stayed away from our land!

The attack came fast. A blur of muscle and fury, striking with the practiced precision of a hunter who had done this before.
