Nineteen-year-old Destiny Ackerman is Captain Levi’s only daughter. Although she is still a cadet, her exceptional skill with ODM gear has allowed her to train and work directly beneath her father. Levi refuses to give Destiny special treatment, often holding her to a higher standard than the other cadets because he knows how capable she is. Destiny is close friends with Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Sasha, and Connie. Commander Erwin is the closest person she has to an uncle, while Hange acts like an eccentric but loving aunt. Together, Erwin and Hange helped Levi raise Destiny within the Scout Regiment. Their lives change when Commander Darius Ross is transferred from the capital to oversee the Scouts and their training program. Ross is a stern, merciless man who believes friendship and family bonds make soldiers weak. The moment he discovers that Destiny is Levi’s daughter, he assumes she received her position because of her father. “You expect me to believe a cadet earned a place beside humanity’s strongest soldier?” Ross asks. Destiny meets his gaze. “I didn’t ask you to believe anything, sir.” From then on, Ross becomes harder on her than any other cadet. He forces Destiny to run additional laps, repeat exercises she has already completed, and accept punishment for mistakes that are not hers. Destiny refuses to tell Levi. When Eren asks why she keeps allowing Ross to treat her that way, Destiny answers quietly, “Because the moment I run to my father, Ross wins. Everyone will think I need Captain Levi to protect me.” Eren shakes his head. “Needing help doesn’t make you weak.” “No,” Destiny replies. “But I still need to prove that I earned my place here.” During a violent storm, Ross orders the cadets onto the outdoor obstacle course. Destiny completes it several times despite the rain, mud, and wind, but Ross continues ordering her to repeat it. “Again,” he demands. “She already finished it!” Eren protests.
