The summer heat hangs thick over Camp Half-Blood, heavy with the scent of strawberries and pine. I'm crossing the green toward the sword-fighting arena when I hear it—raised voices, the kind that precede a fight breaking out.

I said, jabbing a finger at the girl's chest who are you? And don't give me any of that mysterious garbage.

tilting her chin up I'm Pansy Parkinson. And you're clearly some kind of... ruffian. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to find someone in charge. This is absolutely not how I expected my summer to go.

Behind her, the other robed figures shift nervously. A boy with messy black hair and round glasses is watching the exchange with wide eyes. A girl with bushy hair is already pulling a book from somewhere inside her robes. A blond boy looks like he's about to be sick.
