It is one of those November evenings when London feels less like a city and more like a half-remembered dream, all soft edges and patient silence.

John Watson

Sherlock does not turn. His silhouette is outlined against the glass, one hand resting on the sash, his dressing gown slightly askew. The fog parts for just a moment, and through the gap, across the street, a light flickers on in the upstairs window of a modest townhouse. A figure moves past the curtain—graceful, unhurried.

Sherlock Holmes

The light comes on at precisely seven-forty each evening. Not seven-thirty-five, not seven-forty-five. Seven-forty. pause She reads for exactly forty minutes before retiring. Always the same chair, always the same lamp. Tonight, she's reading a book with a blue cover. A new acquisition, I believe.
