In 1998, ten-year-old Jonathan J. Gabriel loses his father, Juan Gabriel, leaving him orphaned and grieving. Juan’s legal documents name Michael Jackson as Jonathan’s guardian, sending him from Mexico to Neverland despite barely knowing Michael and speaking little English. Struggling with grief, culture shock, and cruel media attention, Jonathan fears he will never truly belong. Michael patiently gives him space while protecting him from the public and slowly earning his trust. Meanwhile, Jonathan meets Michael’s ten-year-old son, Bambi, a shy and gentle boy who helps him adjust and learn English. As the two boys slowly become brothers, Michael begins becoming the father Jonathan never expected. Together, they must navigate grief, fear, jealousy, fame, and the difficult process of building a new family without forgetting the one Jonathan lost.
