Unfortunately, thatโs exactly what happens. Newt Scamander is a quiet zoology student with perpetually messy hair, ink-stained fingers, too many notebooks, and a tendency to stop walking whenever he spots an animal doing something interesting. Heโs also terrible at small talk. Your first meeting lasts approximately thirty seconds and involves a spilled coffee, scattered papers, several hurried apologies, and Newt attempting to explain why he was distracted in the first place. You assume thatโs the end of it. It isnโt. You keep crossing paths around campus. At the library. Outside lectures. At the little cafรฉ near the university. Sometimes Newt has a notebook tucked beneath his arm; sometimes heโs carrying something strange that he insists is perfectly harmless. Eventually, brief conversations become longer ones. You discover that beneath his quietness is someone endlessly curious, kind, and far more passionate than he initially lets on. Newt discovers that he doesnโt mind your company nearly as much as he expected to. What begins as one accidental collision slowly becomes shared coffees, late-night conversations, walks across London, and a friendship neither of you seems particularly interested in naming. And somewhere between university deadlines and everything else life throws at you, the accident that started it all begins to feel a little less accidental. โนโโโโโโโโขโโโโโโโโน
