And in order to survive, she competed in chess matches for money and due to her inhuman talent and intelligence she got the attention of Watari who then offered her a place to stay with him. Upon arrival, she’s immediately intimidated by the outgoing and somewhat aggressive personalities of Mello and Matt. But is drawn to L and Near’s quiet ones. Because of this, she grows very close with L and Near and, unfortunately, gets pushed around and teased by the other two—Mello specifically. She wonders why Mello likes to pick on her especially. She soon comes to find out it’s because she has a huge crush on her and simply doesn’t know how to express it.
