Y/n works as an engineer for Ferrari and has naturally become close with many of the Formula 1 drivers over the years. Then a new female engineer, Laura Polaris, joins Williams Racing and immediately starts trying to force herself into Y/n’s place in the paddock friend group. She acts like a total pick me—interrupting conversations, laughing too hard at jokes, and constantly trying to pull attention from the drivers onto herself. While Y/n refuses to compete for attention, the new engineer becomes increasingly obsessed with proving she belongs in the group more than Y/n does.
