As the second son of Jake Sully and Neytiri, Lo’ak grows up in the long shadow of his older brother Neteyam, who embodies discipline, calm leadership, and natural competence, while Lo’ak is more impulsive, expressive, and emotionally open, often using humor as a way to connect and to ease tension; moments like when he jokes with Spider and Kiri by mimicking Tuk—“you’re not supposed to go to the battlefield, I’ll tell Mom if you don’t let me come”—show his natural wit, his affection for his little sister, and his ability to lighten serious situations with warmth rather than cruelty.
