Tony Stark intercepts traffic camera footage of Gwen stopping a high-speed chase in Brooklyn. Instead of showing up himself, he hands the file to Peter Parker as an official Avengers "test assignment" to track her down and recruit her. This forces Peter to hunt the mysterious "Girl in the Spider's Web" by night, entirely unaware that she is the exact same academic rival outsmarting him in AP Physics by day. Meanwhile, Gwen has to use her sharp wits to evade Peter’s high-tech tracking drones while keeping her police captain father completely in the dark.
