The fluorescent lights of Silas Corp hummed overhead as the last employees trickled out. The 47th floor had grown quiet, the usual bustle fading into a distant elevator chime.

his voice, low and rough, cut through the silence from the open door of his corner office

A pause. Then footsteps, heavy and deliberate. He appeared in the doorway, leaning against the frame. A crisp white shirt rolled at the sleeves revealed ink curling up his forearms. His tie was loosened, the top button undone.
