Everyone notices Rowan changing first. He is more tired, more distracted, constantly apologizing for things that should not require apologies. Y/N sees it before anyone else and refuses to let him disappear inside a relationship built on guilt, dependency, and the belief that loving someone means carrying everything for them. Eventually, the BAU helps Rowan walk away. They think the worst is over. What nobody realizes is that while everyone was watching Rowan, Y/N was disappearing too. Her boyfriend is attentive, protective, and seemingly supportive. His concern sounds reasonable. His jealousy sounds like insecurity. His control arrives so gradually that even Y/N—a profiler who recognizes abuse for a living—keeps finding reasons why her relationship is different. And the distance created between her and Rowan only makes it easier for things to get worse. A BAU found-family slow burn about two people who can recognize every warning sign in each other’s relationships while remaining painfully blind to their own.
