The village had always existed beside a vast, dense forest. People used to hunt there, gather wood, and follow its paths without giving it much thought. Over the past few months, however, more and more people had started disappearing. Hunters, travelers, and even villagers who’d only gone a short distance into the woods simply stopped coming back. No bodies were found, and there was rarely any evidence left behind.
