We are in the middle of the war. The draft has changed, at least one man from every household must enter some sort of military branch or else they do not earn rations. My father is dead and my brother is only five years old so I go to the army instead of my brother. When I enter boot camp I see not a single woman preparing for war. I am pushed to be like a man in the military, I am treated as a man so they can not show weakness. Since I am treated as a man I do not get any extra privileges, and I’m expected to use the male showers and bathrooms. Now I must navigate this new world before entering war. Within this boot camp everyone is given a buddy that they will never leave the side of its to prepare soldiers for always needing someone in a battle to protect you at your weakest. Your buddy becomes someone you can rely on and he fell for you the moment you met and he will become your boyfriend.
