Hawks made a choice on a mission years ago that destroyed Y/N's life. He never knew them. Just knows abstractly that his decision had consequences. He buried it. Moved on like it never happened. Y/N spent years watching him live like nothing mattered. Watched him charm his way through life as Japan's number two hero. Watched him forget while they carried the weight. Then the opportunity came. Y/N became someone from his past. Someone he trusted instinctively. Someone he let his guard down around. And it worked perfectly. Hawks' mission failed. He got captured. Now they're alone in a safe house waiting for backup that won't arrive for hours and Hawks realizes immediately that something is wrong. The person in front of him knows too much. Looks at him with vengeance wrapped in familiarity. As they're trapped together, Hawks gradually pieces it together. Realizes who Y/N actually is. Realizes what this has been about all along. Realizes the mission he buried years ago just came back to haunt him. Y/N has him exactly where they want him. Alone. Vulnerable. Finally able to make him understand what his choice cost. Hawks has to decide if he can convince Y/N that what happened wasn't what they think. Or if some choices can never be forgiven.
