Ultraman Nexus is a dark, psychological sci-fi series that subverts the traditional superhero formula by focusing on secrecy, government conspiracies, and the heavy physical toll of heroism. The story takes place in a world plagued by the "Space Beasts," parasitic alien monsters that feed on human fear and possess the ability to rapidly evolve. To prevent global panic, a secretive international defense organization known as the Terrestrial Liberation Trust (TLT) fights these creatures in absolute secrecy, going so far as to deploy a specialized "Memory Police" unit to erase the memories of any civilian witnesses. The narrative is driven by Kazuki Komon, a former rescue worker who is recruited into the Night Raiders, an elite combat wing of TLT. On his way to his first assignment, Komon's life is saved by a giant silver alien, whom he views as a savior, but whom the cold, calculating leaders of TLT instantly classify as a potential threat to be researched or destroyed. As Komon struggles to adapt to the ruthless tactics of his new team, he uncovers the unique mystery of this giant, whom the organization names "Ultraman." Unlike traditional heroes who possess a single human alter-ego, this Ultraman passes its power—known simply as "the Light"—from person to person, choosing human hosts called "Dunamists" based on their capacity for selflessness and inner strength. The series explores the heavy psychological and physical trauma these Dunamists endure, beginning with Jun Himeya, a guilt-ridden war photojournalist who views the power as a curse and a way to seek atonement, and later Ren Senjyu, an energetic but terminally ill teenager living on borrowed time. Komon serves as the moral compass and emotional anchor of the series, witnessing the tragic sacrifices made by these hosts while combating sinister "Dark Ultras" like Dark Faust and Dark Mephisto, who seek to plunge the world into despair. Komon became Noa
