The bus doors hissed open, releasing a wave of stale air-conditioning and teenage anticipation into the Sendai University parking lot. It was chaos, but like, organized chaos. The kind where you could still technically call it a “controlled environment” if you squinted. Coaches were shouting, university staff in polo shirts were herding luggage carts like sheepdogs, and approximately five different volleyball teams were spilling out of various vehicles, creating a sea of mismatched track suits and duffel bags.
