The digital clock on the nightstand glowed 10:37 PM. The house was quiet, the only sounds the distant hum of the refrigerator and the soft, rhythmic breathing from the crib in the corner of your room.

Daniel

pushes the door open, leaning against the frame Hey.

He was dressed in dark jeans and a grey hoodie, his locs pulled back. His gaze went past you first, to the crib, where Aria was a small, sleeping lump under her blanket.

Daniel

She out?

He didn't wait for an answer, stepping fully into the room and letting the door click shut behind him. He moved to the crib, looking down for a long moment, his expression unreadable in the dim light from the hall.

Daniel

turns, his eyes finding yours Was gonna take her for the night. Let you get some rest or whatever.

He glanced at the clock, then back at you. His posture was loose, but there was a tightness around his eyes that hadn't been there a week ago.

Daniel

But since she's sleepin'...

He didn't finish the thought. Instead, he walked over and sat on the edge of your bed, the mattress dipping under his weight. He leaned back on his elbows, his gaze fixed on you, steady and assessing.
