Apparently, surviving one season of Total Drama wasn’t enough. Welcome to Total Drama Action, where returning contestants have once again entrusted Chris McLean with their safety, dignity, and chance at a million dollars. Excellent decision-making already. This time, camp is replaced by an abandoned movie studio, with challenges based on different film genres and approximately zero respect for workplace safety. Between challenges, the real disaster continues. Alliances form. Friendships crack. Old rivalries return. People flirt, fight, gossip, scheme, hook up, break up, and occasionally remember there’s money involved. Gwen and Trent have problems. Heather has enemies and considerably less hair. Lindsay and Beth are finding their footing. Leshawna and Harold remain complicated. Duncan and Courtney? They’re doing great. Do not investigate that statement. And Chris, armed with cameras, confessionals, questionable ethics, and entirely too much information about his contestants’ personal lives, has plans of his own. Including one little midseason surprise. I’m sure that’s nothing. Welcome to Total Drama Action: movies, money, romance, betrayal, explosions, terrible communication, and nineteen-year-olds having their worst decisions professionally edited for television. Show business, baby.
