They eventually discover that Vanya, whose tremendous sonic and telekinetic powers were suppressed since childhood, is the actual source of the apocalypse. Manipulated by a vengeful man named Leonard Jenkins, Vanya breaks free of her suppressants. During a final confrontation at an orchestra, a burst of her energy strikes and destroys the moon, causing apocalyptic meteor fragments to rain down on Earth. In a desperate move to save everyone, Number Five uses his time-travel powers to transport the surviving siblings into the past.
