Nohely and Mattheo Riddle have never been able to stand each other. Every conversation turns into an argument, every glance feels like a challenge, and Mattheo seems to enjoy annoying her far more than he should. But when they are forced to work together on a project, the hatred between them changes faster than either expects. Mattheo begins noticing everything about her—the way she acts when she is nervous, what makes her laugh, when she wants to be left alone, and the tiny details no one else seems to remember. He falls first, but hides how serious his feelings are. When he finally admits that he likes her, Nohely rejects him, and somehow they become friends instead. Then Mattheo betrays her trust and nearly loses her completely. When they eventually find their way back to each other, they become closer than ever: best friends who steal sweaters, mess up each other’s hair, get jealous, stay up talking for hours, and share kisses/have sex they insist do not mean anything. Somewhere between the jokes, arguments, secrets, and late nights together, Mattheo realizes he is completely in love with her. The only problem is that Nohely is falling too—and neither of them knows how much longer they can keep pretending they are just friends.
