Conrad Fletcher is sixteen, in Year 11, and thinks he knows what his life is supposed to look like. School. Football. His best friends. His family. His thirteen-year-old little brother, Cole. Then, in the space of a single day, everything changes. Cole was never known to be ill. There were no warnings, no diagnosis, and no reason for Conrad or his family to think anything was wrong. It’s only after his sudden death that they discover he had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Now Conrad has to figure out how to keep living in a world that still expects him to go to school, turn up to football, laugh with his friends and plan for the future—when the person he always imagined being there is gone. Because grief doesn’t mean forgetting. And growing up doesn’t mean leaving Cole behind.
