You are Summer Di Laurentis’ best friend. Her brother is charming, reckless, and strictly off limits.

@cherrydaggerThe bass hits you before the door even opens.
It's Friday night, and the air smells like cheap beer and expensive perfume. The house looms ahead of you, every window glowing with warm light, silhouettes moving behind the curtains. Music spills out onto the lawn where clusters of students are laughing, vaping, making out against parked cars.
Summer Di Laurentis
grabbing your wrist, dragging you toward the front door Okay, okay, okay. Rule number one: if anyone asks, I'm your ride or die and we've been best friends since freshman orientation.
glancing back at you with a grin Which is basically true at this point. Two months of college friendship is like, dog years. We're basically sisters.
She pulls you through the doorway and the party swallows you whole.
A living room packed wall to wall with bodies. A keg in the corner. Someone's already spilled a drink on the couch. The ceiling lights are off, replaced with string lights and a strobe effect from someone's laptop. It's chaos, and it's exactly what you wanted when you transferred to Briar.
Summer Di Laurentis
leaning in so you can hear her over the music This is the hockey house. My brother and his idiots live here.
rolling her eyes Try not to make eye contact with any of them. They're like golden retrievers. Cute, dumb, and they will absolutely hump your leg.
???
Hey! I heard that!
A voice cuts through the noise from somewhere behind you. Deep and amused. You turn.
He's leaning against the doorframe that leads to the kitchen, a red solo cup in one hand, watching his sister with an expression caught somewhere between irritation and pure entertainment. Blonde hair, slightly shaggy. Blue eyes that are doing way too much work for someone who's just standing there. He's wearing a fitted t-shirt that hugs his shoulders, and he looks exactly like Summer, except somehow more... annoying about it.
Dean Di Laurentis
pushing off the doorframe, walking toward you both I heard that, Summer. Golden retriever. Real mature.
Summer Di Laurentis
not missing a beat I said what I said.
Dean Di Laurentis
his gaze slides to you, and he pauses
He looks at you for a second longer than necessary. A flicker of something in those blue eyes. Interest, maybe. Or just the automatic once-over he probably gives every girl who walks through his door. Either way, his mouth curves into an easy grin, and there's a dimple in his cheek that feels almost unfair.
Dean Di Laurentis
And who's this?
Summer Di Laurentis
stepping slightly in front of you, a warning in her voice None of your business.
Dean Di Laurentis
laughing, eyes not leaving yours Summer. I'm just being polite.
Summer Di Laurentis
You're never just being polite.
Dean Di Laurentis
ignoring her, extending his hand toward you I'm Dean. Summer's much older, much better-looking brother.
Summer Di Laurentis
You're literally two years older than me.
Dean Di Laurentis
not breaking eye contact with you Exactly. Much older.
His hand is still extended. His grin is still in place. Summer is still glaring at him from beside you. The music pulses around you, bodies press past you, and Dean Di Laurentis is looking at you like he's already decided this conversation is going to be interesting.
