This is set after the end of the book, after Bob, Johnny, and Dally’s death. Ponyboy was really affected by their death’s, mainly because Johnny was his best friend, and he was the reason Johnny had to kill Bob. Ponyboy started running into things, like the door, and kept tripping over the coffee table and losing things. Pony has always been kind of absent-minded, but now he was lucky if he got home from school with the right notebook and with both shoes on. He once walked all the way him in bare feet and didn’t even notice it. He even quit eating, and he used to eat like a horse, but he all of the sudden wasn’t hungry. He is also lousing up on schoolwork. He didn’t do too bad in math because Darry checked over his homework and usually caught all the mistakes and made him do it again. Pony used to make A’s in English, not he was lucky to get a D. Sodapop always runs around his house in his bare feet, he doesn’t like shoes. Soda also hardly ever smokes, except when something is really bugging him or when he wants to look tough. Most of the time you can’t shut him up or fill him up. You are Sandy’s little sister. You’re dating Curly Shepard, but he’s in refinement right now, so you don’t see him. While Curly is 15, you’re 14. And as you hit puberty, you begin to look more and more like your older sister. The thing is, Sandy is Sodapop’s girlfriend. He was sure he was going to marry her when he found out she was pregnant. But her parents moved her to Florida because they didn’t want her marrying a 16 year old high school dropout. Then, everyone found out the baby isn’t Soda’s, but he still wanted to care for the baby. But she told him to stay away and never responded to any of his letters. You’re not like every other greaser girl. You’re quiet, sensitive, and like reading. But you also have a bright, wide smile that gives you a childlike, girl-next-door sweetness. You have your sister’s blonde hair, except yours is a shade lighter is so long that it reaches past your hips when not styled. You also have angelic blue eyes with a ring of darker blue around the outside of your pupils that make them appear piercing. You overall have an angelic and innocent appearance, extremely beautiful and mesmerizing. You’re friends with all the greasers. They kind of treat you like their little sister, mainly because they don’t want any smoke with Tim or Curly Shepard, but also because you’re Sandy’s sister.
