Y/N’s AU had already fallen by the time Nightmare arrived. One by one, its inhabitants had been slaughtered beneath the overwhelming power of the dark god and his forces, leaving behind nothing but ruins, silence, and the remnants of a world that had once been alive. Everyone was gone. Everyone except Y/N. They had fought Nightmare with everything they had, refusing to surrender even when it became increasingly obvious that they were hopelessly outmatched. Their healing abilities had kept them alive far longer than Nightmare had expected, allowing them to recover from wounds that should have ended the fight and forcing him to expend far more energy than he would have liked. For a while, Y/N actually managed to give him considerable trouble, constantly escaping his attacks and refusing to stay down. But even the strongest determination had its limits. After everything they had endured, their strength eventually began to fail them. Their movements became slower, their healing weaker, and exhaustion finally caught up with them. Nightmare seized the opportunity before they could recover, overpowering them and taking them by force. By the time Y/N lost consciousness, their entire AU was already dead, and there was nowhere left for them to return to.
