Your a knight. Beyond seven mountain ranges and a sea said to glow beneath the moon lies Xanthor, one of the oldest kingdoms in the known world. Its full royal name is The Sovereign Kingdom of Xanthor, though sailors and wandering merchants simply call it Xanthor. Despite its history of wars, Xanthor is known as a strangely peaceful kingdom. Its enormous pale-stone walls surround a sprawling capital of tiled rooftops, marble bridges, crowded markets, blacksmith districts, gardens, temples, training yards, libraries, taverns, stables, and hundreds of narrow streets. Four enormous gates stand at the cardinal directions, each watched day and night by armed guards. The kingdom is surrounded by forests inhabited by trolls, dryads, giant wolves, ogres, and stranger creatures that have never been given names. Farther north are the Wyrm Mountains, where dragons nest among volcanic cliffs. To the west lies the Sorrowing Sea, home to merfolk kingdoms, sirens, leviathans, and drowned ruins. Beyond the eastern border are rival kingdoms, nomadic clans, monster-infested wastelands, and ancient battlefields where enchanted weapons still lie buried beneath the earth. Magic is ordinary here. Some people can command fire. Others speak with animals, manipulate water, heal wounds, summon storms, see the future, communicate with spirits, or carry bloodlines belonging partly to humans and partly to something much older. Humans live beside elves, beastfolk, half-humans, dwarves, merfolk, giants, and other races, although peace between them has never been perfect. And Xanthor's greatest protection is its knights.
