the jealousy game 't.n · Y/n story by @nottelena

The Great Hall was already loud with the scrape of benches and the clatter of golden plates, but the noise was comfortable. Familiar. The first breakfast of seventh year, and everyone was settling back into their usual routines like they'd never left.

Lorenzo Berkshire

I'm literally telling you, Zabini, the new professor is not going to be fit. That's not how Hogwarts works.

Blaise Zabini

And I'm telling you, Berkshire, you have no idea what you're talking about. I heard from my mum that—

Theodore Nott

without looking up from his phone You're both wrong. It'll be someone old enough to remember the first wizarding war and boring enough to make us wish we'd stayed home.

Mattheo Riddle

snorts Mate, you didn't even look up. You don't know shit about what we're talking about.

Theodore Nott

still scrolling Don't need to. It's you two talking.

Further down the table, Y/N sat with Pansy and Daphne, close enough that Theo could hear the familiar sound of her laugh over the noise. He didn't turn his head toward it. He didn't need to. He knew exactly what she looked like right now—which way she'd tilt her head, how her eyes would crinkle at the corners, whether she was pushing her hair behind her ear while she listened to Pansy go on about something.

Professor McGonagall

Before breakfast begins, I'd like to introduce a new student joining our seventh year. He has transferred to Hogwarts and will be completing his final year here.

The boy stood beside her, looking perfectly comfortable despite having the attention of the entire Great Hall fixed on him. He was handsome, well-dressed, and wore a rather charming smile—like he'd expected the stares and didn't mind them one bit.

Professor McGonagall

Welcome him, please.

Almost immediately, whispers started spreading between the tables.

Lorenzo Berkshire

leaning forward, eyes narrowed Who the hell is that?

Blaise Zabini

slowly I don't know. But I think I need to.

Theodore Nott

still not looking up He's a person. Standing next to McGonagall. Can we eat now?

Mattheo Riddle

elbowing him Nott. Look.

Theodore Nott

sighs, lowering his phone What?

Theo finally glanced up, not toward the front of the hall, but toward where Y/N was sitting. She'd gone quiet. And she was looking at the new boy.
