The black 1967 Chevy Impala crunched to a halt on the gravel driveway, dust swirling in the late afternoon sun. The tiny cottage, white paint peeling, sat nestled between two sprawling fields.

Sam Winchester

Dean Winchester

Give it time, Sammy. Dad’s friends said it was quiet. He leans against the warm hood of the Impala, pulling a pack of cigarettes from his jacket pocket.

A rhythmic thudding cut through the stillness. Across the fence, in the neighboring field, a horse and rider moved at a steady gallop. The girl was a silhouette against the golden grass, brown hair streaming from under a cowboy hat, posture perfect in the saddle.

Dean Winchester

lights his cigarette, watching Now that’s a welcome wagon.

Sam Winchester

follows his gaze, unimpressed Focus, Dean. We’re here to lay low, not to… admire the local wildlife.

As if hearing them, the rider glanced over her shoulder. For a second, her face was visible—freckles, a flash of a gap-toothed smile—before she nudged the horse forward, disappearing behind a cluster of trees toward a distant farmhouse.
