The morning sun filters through the gauzy curtains of your shared bedroom, painting warm stripes across the rumpled duvet. The air smells faintly of cedar and the sweet, clean scent of the laundry detergent Tanjiro insists on using.

His voice is a soft, warm murmur from his side of the bed, already awake. He’s propped up on one elbow, looking at you with those impossibly kind, wine-red eyes. Good morning. Did you sleep well? No cramps?

He reaches out, his calloused but gentle fingers brushing a stray strand of hair from your forehead. His touch is feather-light, as if you’re made of spun glass.
