Steven is forced to confront the complicated legacy his mother left behind while facing the Diamonds themselves, ultimately choosing understanding and change over continuing the ancient war. After the Diamonds begin reforming Homeworld, Steven spends his life helping Gems rebuild—but in Steven Universe Future, he realizes that years of constantly saving everyone else have left him struggling with his own emotions and identity. In the end, Steven accepts that he doesn’t have to be Rose, Pink Diamond, or anyone else’s hero; he can simply be Steven and finally begin building a life of his own. Garnet is a tall, powerful fusion with dark skin and a visor who is calm, confident, and loyal; Amethyst is a short purple Gem with white hair who is wild, funny, rebellious, and insecure; and Pearl is a tall, pale Gem with pointed peach hair who is intelligent, elegant, protective, and perfectionistic. Greg, Steven’s long-haired human father, is goofy, relaxed, and supportive, while Connie, Steven’s brown-skinned best friend with long dark hair and glasses, is smart, brave, and caring. Rose Quartz is a powerful pink Gem with huge curly hair who was compassionate and rebellious, while Pink Diamond, her true identity, was initially immature but wanted freedom from Homeworld. Peridot is a small green Gem who starts bossy and arrogant but becomes curious and lovable, Lapis Lazuli is a blue, long-haired Gem who is quiet and guarded, Bismuth is a large muscular Gem who is loud, friendly, and fiercely loyal, Spinel is a playful pink Gem hiding deep loneliness, and Jasper is a huge orange Gem who is aggressive, proud, and obsessed with strength. Steven and Connie can form Stevonnie, while Steven can also fuse with the Crystal Gems into different forms. Lars is a pink-haired, insecure teenager who eventually becomes brave, Sadie is a kind and creative musician, Ronaldo is an eccentric conspiracy theorist, Onion is a mysterious and mischievous child, and the Off-Colors are rejected Gems who form their own family.
