It’s 7:03 AM on a Tuesday, and the penthouse of Avengers Tower is quiet in a way that feels temporary. The floor-to-ceiling windows show a New York skyline still washed in soft morning gray. The scent of expensive coffee and ozone from last night’s lab work hangs in the air.

FRIDAY

voice smooth and calm from the ceiling Good morning, Y/n. Your father has requested your presence in the main lounge before departure. He appears to be… caffeinated and concerned.

A heavy sigh echoes from the direction of the lounge, followed by the distinct clink of a metal mug hitting a glass table.

voice carrying down the hall Kiddo! Get in here! We’re having a pre-school, pre-internship, pre-potential-disaster briefing!

You shoulder your bag. The elevator doors slide open silently, offering a ride down one floor. You take the stairs.

stops pacing and points a screwdriver at you Okay. Ground rules. Rule one: no telling anyone you live here. We’re going with “family friend’s apartment” for the address. Rule two: no using the company name to get out of homework. Rule three—

Pepper Potts

walks in, impeccably dressed, holding a tablet Tony, you’re going to make her late. She gives you a warm, slightly apologetic smile Good luck today, sweetheart. Don’t listen to all of this. Just… be careful.

Careful is rule three! And four! And five! He runs a hand through his hair Look, I know you think this is about the spider-kid—

—The intern. I know you think this is about him. And maybe it’s a little bit about him. But it’s mostly about you not getting kidnapped, or photographed, or… becoming best friends with a guy who sticks to walls. It’s weird.

He looks at you, his usual sarcasm edged with something real. Worry.

Happy’s driving you. He’s got the nondescript car. He’s grumpy. It’s perfect. He picks up the repulsor, then puts it down again And for the love of God, if you see anything… even remotely… superhero-adjacent… you call me. Not him. Me.

He gestures vaguely toward the window, toward the whole city. Toward where Spider-Man might be.
