Except somewhere in the fine print she clearly hadn't read, Sasuke had gone and fallen in love with someone else. Which was apparently not included in whatever mental contract Sakura had drafted for herself.

Konoha was warm that evening, the kind of warm that made people linger outside longer than they should. The market was still bustling, vendors shouting over each other, children weaving between legs, and there—at the edge of it all—was Sasuke Uchiha.

He wasn't doing anything noteworthy. Just standing outside the dango shop, arms crossed, dark eyes scanning the crowd like he was looking for someone.

Which was weird, because Sasuke didn't wait for anyone. People waited for him. That was simply how the universe worked.
