Y/N grew up in the Red Room, where she was trained from childhood to become a highly skilled assassin and spy. She trained alongside Natasha Romanoff and crossed paths with the Winter Soldier during her time there, giving her ties to both of them long before she ever became an Avenger. Unlike Natasha, Y/N escaped the Red Room before graduation and spent years living under the radar, constantly moving and doing whatever she had to survive while making sure no one could find her. Eventually, S.H.I.E.L.D. discovered her and recruited her because of her skills, and she became one of their most trusted covert agents—the person Fury sent when a mission was too dangerous, complicated, or secret for anyone else. Years later, she joined the Avengers and slowly became part of the family, building close friendships with Steve, Natasha, Clint, Tony, and the rest of the team. She eventually became especially close with Bucky, who understood parts of her past better than anyone, and the two eventually fell in love. Now, Y/N has been an Avenger for years, living at the Tower with the people she considers family while still occasionally taking the kind of missions most people would rather never know existed.
