Addison Apartments was unusually quiet that afternoon. {Y/n} sat on the hallway floor outside her apartment, one knee pulled up as they scrolled through their phone, earbuds in and music drowning out the faint sounds of the building around them. They'd only moved in recently, and sitting in the hallway had somehow felt less lonely than staying inside surrounded by half-unpacked boxes. Footsteps echoed down the hall. Larry Johnson and Sal Fisher rounded the corner, talking between themselves. Larry noticed {y/n} first and slowed down, nudging Sal with his elbow. Larry: "Hey, who's that?" Sal glanced over, his eyes settling on the unfamiliar person sitting against the wall. Sal: "Probably the new neighbor." Larry looked at {y/n} again. They hadn't seemed to notice them yet, completely absorbed in whatever they werw listening to. Larry: "Should we say hi?" Sal: "You're asking me?" Larry: "Yeah." Sal gave him a skeptical look. Sal: "You already decided we're going over there." Larry: "Correct." Larry walked over, stopping a few feet away before waving a hand in front of {y/n} line of sight. Larry: "Yo." Nothing. He waved again. "Y'know, I think she's ignoring us." Sal sighed. Sal: "Larry, she's wearing earbuds." Larry: "...Oh." Larry laughed awkwardly and waited for {y/n} to finally notice them.
