The rain in Forks was a constant, drizzling companion. It clung to the windows of Charlie Swan’s house, blurring the tall, dark pines that stood like silent sentinels beyond the glass. Inside, the air smelled of old wood, fresh coffee, and the faint, lingering scent of Bella’s shampoo.

from the kitchen He’s going to be here any minute. Just… be normal, okay?

Bella’s voice was tight, an odd blend of warning and pleading. She’d been like that all morning—jumpy, glancing out the window every five minutes.

Jacob Black

Hey, Bells.

His voice was warm, familiar. Jacob Black filled the doorway, all broad shoulders and easy smile. His dark eyes swept past Bella immediately, landing on you across the room. The smile didn’t falter, but something in his gaze intensified, sharpened. It was the same look he’d given you two days ago on your first day back—a fleeting, burning glance before he’d looked away, mumbled something to Bella, and left.
