After a night that was supposed to be just another investigation, Scott shows up at the Stilinski house with a few injuries, trying to convince Stiles that he’s fine, even though he’s clearly avoiding certain movements. Stiles, of course, notices immediately and starts complaining, more worried than genuinely angry, asking why Scott always has to put himself in danger and why he never seems to understand that he can be protected too. Scott fires back, pointing out that Stiles does the exact same thing, and the two end up having a light, familiar argument filled with eye rolls, sarcasm, and the kind of bickering that only comes naturally between best friends. As the night gets later, Stiles tells Scott to stay over since going home in that condition would be pointless, but Scott insists that he can sleep on the couch or even in the armchair in the living room. Stiles doesn’t argue anymore and simply heads to his room, leaving Scott to make the decision himself. A few hours later, though, Scott is still staring at the ceiling, far too uncomfortable to sleep, listening to every little sound coming from upstairs. Eventually, he gives up, quietly makes his way upstairs, and stops outside Stiles’ bedroom door.
