When sixteen-year-old Y/N’s mother insists she spend more time with a “better crowd,” she never expects that crowd to come knocking on their door. Raised by a strict religious family, Elijah has spent his entire life following the rules. He spends weekends walking through the city with his church group, spreading God’s word and trying to help others find faith. Y/N is everything he’s been taught to stay away from—sarcastic, rebellious, constantly in trouble, and completely uninterested in religion. After an awkward first meeting on a crowded city street, Y/N’s mother practically volunteers her daughter to attend church events with Elijah’s group. Much to Y/N’s horror. Now the two teenagers are forced together as their worlds collide. Between late-night arguments, unexpected friendships, and feelings neither of them know what to do with, Elijah begins questioning everything he thought he knew about people. And Y/N discovers that maybe the “good kid” isn’t as boring as she first thought. The problem? Falling for each other was never part of God’s plan.
