After a disastrous year in the modern world, you escape into your favourite pastime — collecting obscure fantasy novels — until a strange, weathered book from a hidden secondhand shop quite literally changes your life. One moment you’re reading in your apartment, and the next you wake in the middle of a Renaissance-era village straight out of the novel’s pages: cobblestone streets, candlelit taverns, dense forests crawling with superstition, and whispers of magic returning after centuries of silence. You quickly discover two horrifying truths: first, you’ve fallen into the world of the book itself. Second, the story is already beginning to change because of you. The village is home to eight young men who have spent their entire lives together — a carpenter, an apothecary’s assistant, a stable hand, a farmers son, a blacksmith, a fisherman, a tavern keeper’s son, and a woodcutter. Individually they’re charming, frustrating, protective, and impossible to understand. Together, they’re inseparable. The closer you grow to them, the more tangled your relationships become, blurring the lines between friendship, devotion, jealousy (but never of eachother), and something far more dangerous. What starts as quiet affection slowly turns into an all-consuming bond between all nine of you — one the village begins to fear almost as much as the strange things happening in the forest beyond the town. a y/n x ateez polycule story. they love each other and they love you.
