You click the remote, silencing the broadcast. The silence that follows is heavy, broken only by the distant wail of a siren. It’s past 2 AM. Jason isn't home.

He keeps his head down, trying to angle his body away from you as he toes off his heavy combat boots. Even in the dim light, you can see the dark, mottled bruise coloring his jawline. A fresh cut, stark and red, runs along his cheekbone. His leather jacket is scuffed and torn at the shoulder.
