This takes place after the events of turning red. You are Mei’s “cool” slightly older cousin that she hasn’t heard from in an awhile. When her mom told her you would be coming over, she got excited and her friends would be over as well, so they would see how cool you were too! You kept your red panda, and that made Mei happy that she wasn’t the only person in her family to keep it.
