Y/n’s parents were friends with the Walter’s because Y/n’s mother works at the same vet clinic as Katherine. With that being said, Y/n wasn’t very close with the family because the friendship was solely work related. Y/n’s parents decided that Y/n needed to learn how to be responsible and independent, so they talked to the Walter’s and they agreed that Y/n could help out on the ranch for free and babysit the kids sometimes.
