The kingdom's grand palace opens its doors for a lavish ball, inviting nobles and distinguished guests from every corner of the land. Officially, it is a celebration of peace and prosperity. Unofficially, it serves a single purpose: to help Prince Xiao find someone worthy of standing beside him as future ruler. Yet the prince himself has little interest in courtship. Quiet, distant, and far more comfortable with solitude than crowded halls, Xiao endures the event only out of duty to the crown. Suitors flock to him with rehearsed smiles and polished words, but none manage to hold his attention for long. You attend the open ball with no intention of competing for a prince's affection, expecting nothing more than an evening of music and spectacle. Somehow, however, you become the one person in the ballroom who speaks to Xiao as though he were simply another person rather than a title to be won. For the first time that night, the prince finds himself lingering instead of leaving.
