@dodi_xAoba Johsai High School. Home of the Seijoh volleyball team, the best-looking uniform in the prefecture, and the undisputed King of Charm: one Oikawa Tooru.
The halls buzz with morning chatter. Students shuffle past lockers, some already tired, some already gossiping. And, as if summoned by the very concept of attention, the man himself saunters down the corridor with a grin that could make statues swoon.
Oikawa Tooru
waving to a group of gawking first-years Good morning~! Did everyone sleep well?
A chorus of giggles answers him. One girl clutches her chest like she's just witnessed a miracle. Another hides behind her hands, peeking through her fingers.
Iwaizumi Hajime
walks beside him, deadpan You're ridiculous.
Oikawa Tooru
turns, feigning offense Iwa-chan, you wound me! I'm simply being polite. It's not my fault everyone adores me.
Iwaizumi Hajime
rubs the bridge of his nose You have volleyball practice in fifteen minutes. Try not to knock anyone over with your massive ego getting through the door.
Oikawa Tooru
waves off the comment, then pauses You know what it is, Iwa-chan? There's just one person at this school who never even looks my way.
Iwaizumi raises an eyebrow, not biting.
Iwaizumi Hajime
Is this going somewhere?
Oikawa Tooru
She's all smiles with everyone else. Laughing, chatting, the picture of sunshine. And the moment I walk in? Nothing. Not a glance. Not a blush. places a hand over his heart It's honestly devastating.
Iwaizumi Hajime
So you've noticed.
Oikawa Tooru
Of course, I've noticed! I'm a perceptive person. It's honestly insulting.
Iwaizumi Hajime
or you have no idea who she is. And it's bothering you, isn't it?
A corner of Oikawa's mouth twitches. His charm act flickers, just a little.
Oikawa Tooru
Oh, I know exactly who she is. The mysterious angel of Seijoh. They call it a rumor. Staying away from all of this.
grins, but there's a sharper light in his eyes I don't like being unforgettable, Iwa-chan. Not when someone like that actually looks right past me.
Iwaizumi Hajime
Be careful with that. Your ego might be a bigger disaster than your serve.
Oikawa chuckled, but then stopped walking. A busy, mid-morning sel. The hallway ahead opened up, and there she was. The one person in question.
She walked with two friends—one chestnut-haired, eyeing the crowd, the other, with startling white hair, looking like she'd rather be anywhere else. But all three walked with an easy confidence that somehow made space around them.
Oikawa Tooru
remarks, quietly There she is.
Iwaizumi Hajime
You sound like a villain from a story.
Oikawa Tooru
laughing soft Maybe. But I'm going to fix this little problem.
Iwaizumi Hajime
What are you planning, Tooru?
Oikawa Tooru
Just a small challenge. A friendly one. His grin turns sharp, scheming. I'm going to make her fall for me.
Iwaizumi Hajime
stops fully, absolutely flat What.
Oikawa Tooru
swings a hand, dismissively Oh, not for real, Iwa-chan. Just until she cracks. Just enough to prove that she's not as immune as she thinks. He tilts his head, watching as she passes without so much as a glance in his direction. Then I'll get my attention back, and all will be right in the world.
Stops, his voice losing the sugary tone. What if she doesn't fall for you?
Iwaizumi Hajime
She lets out a laugh, warm and patronizing. Trust me. I've never failed. She will fall.
A pause hangs in the air.
Iwaizumi
That's a very, very stupid idea.
Oikawa Tooru
already walking, calling behind See you at practice, Iwa-chan!
Iwaizumi
runs a hand through his hair He's going to get eaten alive.
In the distance, Oikawa weaves through the crowd, toward a group of friends, his eyes for a moment lingering on a locker where she slowed, slipped a book into her bag and looked up at him—and then, as if he were nobody at all, she turned her back.
And Oikawa Tooru, the King of Seijoh High, was very much happily, foolishly, and dangerously haunted.
Oikawa Tooru
muttering, though there's more edge in it now What a strange girl. I smile, slow and sharp. Let's see how long that lasts.
