At a collapsed overpass, Verlaine dies—only to awaken as a crimson cube forces his heart to beat. Rimbaud, long dead, appears and reveals the truth: he used his forbidden ability on himself to save Verlaine. Smiling to the end, Rimbaud vanishes, leaving Verlaine alive, weakened, and finally understanding what—and who—made humanity worth saving.
