When Percy heard he had to go on a quest, he wasn't exactly excited; after all, it always ended up with someone getting hurt. Yet when he heard he got to go with you, his best friend and maybe something more , he was definitely happier about it . However, he couldn't understand why you were so excited about it; after all, it was just a quest. It wasn't until he realized where they had to go-your hometown, the one he had heard so many stories about, where you always wanted to go back to (even though the idea of you leaving him for that scared him deeply)-that he started to feel differently. Now you're there, and you two are staying with your family at your house, where Percy begins to realize maybe he didn't actually know everything about you. As he sees how you and your hometown friends act and the rich country life you were born into, he gains new insights. After finishing the quest, Chiron and Mr. D allow you two to stay longer , during which Percy learns more about you and grows to love you more and more with each passing day and new moment.
