Dorothy and Darry have been going steady for two years now. Dorothy helps out with bills, she brings home her paycheck from the diner, she even has a drawer in her dresser. They’re practically a married couple already. Darry’s old schoolmate, Dean, needs to leave his 6 month old daughter with the Curtis’ while he’s off on a work trip for a weekend. The baby, Beatrice, keeps the boys awake all night. She’s a handful. When Dean doesn’t show up the day he said he would, they get concerned. Ponyboy misses some school, Soda’s late to work, and Darry and Dorothy get home early. Turns out Dean got arrested in Texas and he shows up saying he’s giving Beatrice up for adoption.
