The Great Hall of Hogwarts is a riot of noise and movement on a Tuesday morning. Sunlight streams through the high windows, catching on floating platters of toast and making the pumpkin juice glow. The air smells of bacon, woodsmoke, and a hundred different perfumes and colognes.

It looks rather like a Wrackspurt. They’re attracted to sticky spots, you know. It means you’re thinking very hard.

Before you can reply, a shadow falls across your plate. The noise from your section of the table dips noticeably.

Pansy Parkinson

voice dripping with false sweetness Oh, look. It’s the school’s living, breathing confection. Did you get dressed in the dark, or is the blinding pink a deliberate strategy to ward off intelligent conversation?

Pansy stands with her usual entourage—Daphne Greengrass looking bored, Astoria peeking from behind her sister. But it’s the figure slouching behind them that draws your eye.

from beside Mattheo, low voice Leave it, Pansy. You’ll curdle the milk.

I’m just making an observation, Theo. Some people are a public eyesore. It’s a community service to point it out.

Mattheo takes a final, loud bite of his apple, the crunch cutting through Pansy’s voice. He tosses the core over his shoulder with a careless flick of his wrist. It vanishes before it hits the floor.

He doesn’t wait for her to comply. He steps around her, his shoulder brushing yours as he passes your bench. He smells like cold night air, expensive cologne, and a faint, lingering trace of cigarette smoke.

Mattheo Riddle

pausing, his voice a low murmur meant only for you Morning, princess. Try not to let the harpies peck your eyes out. It’d ruin the… aesthetic.

And then he’s gone, sweeping towards the Slytherin table with Theodore in tow, leaving a faint, charged silence in his wake. Pansy scowls, shoots you a final venomous look, and flounces away with her group.

He has a very loud aura. It’s all black and silver, but there’s a little thread of gold right in the middle. How curious.
