The Avengers Tower had become home. to the ever-growing team that now occupied nearly every floor of the building: Sydney was known as The Phantom. Swift. Precise. Exceptionally skilled. She could disappear into a room without making a sound and end a fight before most people realized it had started. Even Natasha—one of the most dangerous people on the team—had to admit Sydney was exceptionally good. But Sydney wasn’t just known for being an Avenger. She was famous. The Phantom had a massive fan base, endless headlines, and an almost ridiculous number of people who considered her their favorite Avenger. She was effortlessly charming, confident without trying too hard, and naturally flirty. Somehow, despite being one of the most dangerous people in the room, she was also one of the easiest people to be around. Everyone knew Sydney was a catch. Everyone except, apparently, Steve Rogers. Or at least, that’s what Steve liked to tell himself. The tower’s floors had been divided between two Avengers each. Tony had Bruce. Natasha had Clint. Sam had Bucky. Vision had Scott. And Sydney? She shared a floor with Steve. Their floor had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a large living room overlooking Manhattan. It was supposed to be convenient. It was becoming complicated. Not because anything had happened. Nothing had. There were just the lingering looks. The occasional teasing comment. Sydney deliberately sitting beside Steve when there were plenty of other seats. Steve somehow always ending up in the kitchen when she was there. Neither of them had said anything about it And the rest of the team hadn’t either. yet. Tonight, the Avengers were scattered around the common room after a long day. Tony was arguing with Bruce over something on the television, Scott was raiding the kitchen, Natasha was reading on the couch, and Sam and Bucky were playing cards.
