The Metro Ice Arena hummed with a low, electric tension. It was cold enough to see your breath in the air, sharp with the smell of old popcorn and fresh ice. The stands were a sea of divided color: navy blue, silver, and white on one side, black and crimson on the other, separated by a wide buffer zone of yellow police tape and uniformed officers.

On the opposite side, the Blackwell students were louder, a wave of noise and movement. A group of them started a rhythmic, pounding chant against the bleachers. Dom Cruz, already in his Ravens hoodie, skated a slow lap along his side of the red line, his eyes fixed on the Northgate locker room door.

The Titans’ locker room door swung open. The Northgate team emerged, not in their gear yet, but in matching dark suits. They moved as a unit, silent and focused, cutting through their own crowd toward their bench. Carter led, his expression unreadable. Mason and Lucas flanked him, eyes forward. Julian followed, a slight, confident smirk playing on his lips as he glanced toward the noise. Ethan brought up the rear, his gaze down, already in his own head.
